Strategies I use

I’m just a beginner. But maybe this helps for other beginners how I currently setup my channels/analytics

Google analytics

  1. Get Google Analytics asap on your store
  2. Install the Google Search Console asap on your store
  3. In Google Analytics connect it to the account in Google Search console
  4. In Google Analytics enable E-commerce tracking

Instagram

  1. Setup an instagram account
  2. if you want you can setup as professional so you can have the “shop now” button to directly link to your product. This costs money I believe.
  3. I only have a personal account (for now) and cannot link directly to my products. So I use a intermediate solution : https://linkin.bio/
  4. Create an account on linkin.bio. Connect your instagram to the linkin.bio. You don’t really need the Later product.
  5. In the linkin.bio admin, select the instagram posts you want to connect to the product url you want.
  6. Each linkin.bio account has an url. Use this url in your instagram profile. So for example, my linkin.bio url is : Linkin.bio and I include it in my insta: https://www.instagram.com/rollerskate.app/

UTM tracking
Now that you can link to a product url (via linkin.bio), also include the utm tracking.

So for example, I have a post that will connect to my shop

https://shop.spreadshirt.nl/rollerskate/all?listModeOverride=DESIGN

But for better tracking in Google Analytics I can add the utm params:

https://shop.spreadshirt.nl/rollerskate/all?listModeOverride=DESIGN&utm_source=linkin-bio_rollerskate-app&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=21-discount-jan-04-2021

I recommend you alter the utm values per channel you link from. For example

https://shop.spreadshirt.nl/rollerskate/all?listModeOverride=DESIGN&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=21-discount-jan-04-2021

or

https://shop.spreadshirt.nl/rollerskate/all?listModeOverride=DESIGN&utm_source=mailchimp&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=21-discount-jan-04-2021

etc

International shop "fix"
So I have 2 shops. One in the European version and one in the North American version. Now I don’t like how the country selector is waaaay down the in the footer. On social media I now use the .net als my catch all domein so for example

https://shop.spreadshirt.net/rollerskate/

And I needed a way to divert the US customers to my other shop. So I created a simple store selection in the header:

So clicking ‘here’ will divert to

https://shop.spreadshirt.com/rollerskate/

I used the custom HTML header and custom CSS to do this.

Hope this helps

Updated the post with a International shop "fix"

thanx for sharing tips @Xperimental_Concept !
do you Create both a Google Analytics 4 property and a Universal Analytics property or just one of them and if so wich one?

in search console when adding a new URL google mails you and tells you to add all versions of URL
that is www, non-www, http and https
should we spreadshop owners add all 4 of these i have only added the https-version so far… ?

regards

I think I created both, but only report/use the UA because Spreadshop only supports UA. With the creation of GA4 there is an option to also create the classic UA.

I also used the https so far in search console
