Marine Mammals of Maine – marine wildlife conservation

Marine Mammals of Maine, or MMoME, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection, rescue, research, and care of marine mammals and sea turtles. They rescue marine wildlife along Maine’s approximately 2,500-mile-long coastline, where thousands of marine mammals and sea turtles become stranded each year. Not only does MMoME provide short-term relief, but – as a federal organization authorized to perform long-term rehabilitation – they provide long-term, sustainable support.

On Facebook and Instagram they use their reach to share their work and educate their followers. In doing so, MMoME aims to motivate responsible stewardship of the marine environment and promote marine conservation.

MMoME is financed almost exclusively by private donations. With its Spreadshop, the non-profit organization generates additional money, 100% of which goes toward their mission. In keeping with the sea, most of their designs feature shades of blue or show their iconic seal motif.

Biru Biru – an ocean store for marine conservation

Behind Biru Biru are Melissa and Yvonne, two women who have great love for the sea. They have set out to protect what they love by generating funds, offering bracelets, notebooks, necklaces, and much more in their online shop. All proceeds go directly to marine conservation projects supporting coral gardening (the planting of coral seedlings grown in a laboratory), education or NGOs that promote ocean knowledge, and beach clean-ups. On Instagram and Facebook, the two show their sustainable products and the reality in our oceans. They also support other organizations and people who work to protect our oceans.

In their Biru Biru Spreadshop, you can find merch for ocean lovers, travelers, and surfers. All their designs have clear ocean themes and marine-inspired coloring. Defend The Ocean – sustainable merch from Germany

Making the protection of our oceans and marine topical – that’s Defend The Ocean’s goal. Their work is all about motivating people everywhere to spread the word about the importance of environmental and animal protection in our oceans. It is up to all of us to make a clear statement against the use of plastic and against the pollution of our oceans.

On Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook you’ll find many insights into their work.

The money they earn goes directly to their projects, and they manage to draw attention to their cause. Here’s how they get their message out there:  

KlimaKohleHoffnung – less CO2 through plant carbon

Too much carbon dioxide in the air and not enough time to take action. The KlimaKohleHoffnung (German for climate, coal, hope) project shows us how urgent it is to take action now. This means reducing CO2 emissions in the air is vital, and a great way to do so is by using plant carbon. Find out how exactly the carbon is permanently bound, from which input materials plant carbon can be produced and how everyone can become a climate savior! Among other things, this is explained on the project’s YouTube, Instagram and Facebook channels. The goal is to double the use of plant carbon in the next couple of years, and everyone’s attention and support is needed for plant carbon now.

With the KlimaKohleHoffnung Spreadshop, the trade association is taking an important step towards achieving just that. Their designs have a clear message: there is still hope, but we can’t waste any time. This is why their Install Update design shows a mouse pointing at the “Now” button – and not the “Later” button.

On their designs, the world can briefly cool down in a cold bathtub. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work in real life – unless we pay more attention to plant carbon now.

Glacier initiative – made of fossil energies

It is the organization’s aim to realize the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement, and to put Switzerland on a sustainable climate course. Because we all want a better world and a future worth living in, right? The Glacier Initiative is one of the largest projects from Verein Klimaschutz Schweiz, which in turn is part of a worldwide climate movement. They pursue the goal of creating a future without fossil fuels, in which man-made greenhouse gases are reduced to net zero emissions by 2050.

The glaciers in Switzerland and everywhere else in the world are at risk of vanishing as a result of climate change, and this is why the phase-out is so important. Their Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts will tell you why and how.

Partnering With Mr. Beast

The first step in our sustainable journey came in late 2021 through a partnership with Mr. Beast’s Team Seas. For every reusable water bottle bought through the end of the year, we donated $1 to Team Seas ($1 helps remove 1 pound of trash from the ocean). Through water bottle purchases alone, we removed over a ton of trash from the ocean and will donate over $2000 to the cause just for starters. The creator community and individuals around the globe raised over 18 million dollars as of December 16th, 2021.

We have many merch alternatives – water bottles, totes, travel mugs – that help reduce single-use plastic waste. Who would say no to something that looks cool AND is reusable?
