Introducing: SPOD

Introducing: SPOD

Did you know that Spreadshop is a part of something much bigger? Discover SPOD, the most recent Spread Group brand to launch.

What’s SPOD?

SPOD stands for Spreadshirt Print-on-Demand. Like Spreadshop, SPOD is a brand by Spread Group. SPOD is a print-on-demand fulfillment service that can be found as a plugin on Shopify.

With SPOD, Merchants have complete control over pricing, return policies and customer relationships. When a customer places an order, the Merchant is in charge of paying SPOD to fulfill it.

In addition to having their own online stores, SPOD Merchants have the ability to sell their products on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, or other digital marketplaces like Etsy, Amazon, eBay and Idealo. SPOD Merchants manage every aspect of their business, and our print-on-demand services operate solely as a fulfillment service.

SPOD vs. Spreadshop

As a Shop Owner, you create and sell designs in your own Shop, and we handle everything else from customer service to shipping, Shop support, Shop templates and production.

SPOD Merchants manage their own stores with Shopify, however, they are in charge of their own customer service, points of sale, shipping type, selecting the print type, and pricing arrangements. Additionally, they can’t run promotions like we’ve made available on Spreadshop.

While SPOD and Spreadshop are quite different, they do share a few similarities. For both platforms, you can choose the retail price of your products and have access to the customizer tool. While Spreadshop is always free, SPOD Merchants pay a fee to Shopify and pay SPOD to produce all of their orders.

If you’re a self-starter, there are many benefits of SPOD…

  • Merchants have full control over the retail price of a product and the cost of shipping (you can even make it free)
  • Merchants have the freedom to manage all marketing, customer service, etc…
  • Merchants have access to all of their customer data

SPOD Europe vs. SPOD United States

Until now, SPOD has only been available in the United States (including Canada and Australia). However, SPOD has recently expanded to Europe.

Because SPOD is a global app that connects to Shopify, you need two accounts if you choose to sell in both the United States and Europe or just one account for your region of choice. For example, if most of your customers are based in Europe, you would download the European app. This allows faster delivery times and a specialized product range for European customers. The same goes for the United States.

You can, of course, sell in both Europe and the United States (including Canada and Australia) at the same time.

It’s important to note that SPOD Europe cannot ship to these countries (Spreadshop still can though): NO, LI, CH, AU, NZ, US. This mainly has to do with customs and taxation laws.

Is SPOD for me? Give it a try and find out!

  1. Register with Shopify (there’s a 14-day free trial)
  2. Easily set-up a Shopify store
  3. Install the free SPOD app, and create products to synch with your store

it’s a lot more room for SPOD to grow in POD businesses if not limited only to Shopify.
