Make Extra Cash This Holiday Season with Print-on-Demand

make extra cash this holiday season

We could all use some extra cash during the holiday season. Whether it’s for gifts, bills or some much-need self care - a little bit of extra income can make all the difference.

Increase your earnings this holiday season with a free print-on-demand shop.

Print-on-demand (POD) is a hands-off holiday side hustle that allows you to profit from your design ideas. Customize hundreds of seasonal apparel and accessory items - Christmas sweaters, stockings, mugs, ornaments - and sell instantly online.

The best part: Zero upfront fees or inventory. We handle the printing and shipping for you. Upload your designs, customize products and boom - you’re ready to sell.

Make extra money for Christmas by opening your own print-on-demand shop.

No Inventory or Shipping - Pure Profit

Calling print-on-demand a side hustle might actually be selling it short. Traditional side hustles come with hidden fees, lengthy time commitments and additional stress.

Spreadshop is one of the smartest and lowest-barrier options for side hustles and additional income streams.

No upfront inventory or investment: It’s completely free to open your own print-on-demand shop. We know that might sound too good to be true, but it’s actually not. All you need is an email and shop name and you’re good to go.

And you don’t need to order your own products or store boxes of inventory, either. We print and ship all orders in-house from our US facility in Las Vegas. That means you can focus on wrapping Christmas gifts instead of shipping out orders.

Fast, automated set-up: Don’t worry - running your own merch shop doesn’t require any tech or software skills. A straightforward process exists for organizing your shop and picking your products.

Customize the look and feel of your shop with templates and organize Christmas designs by topic. Give your products more visibility and encourage holiday purchases from customers.

Now’s the time to sell: Black Friday is quickly approaching - the best and busiest time of the year for print-on-demand. Print-on-demand sellers typically see up to 3x higher conversions during Black Friday weekend.

Use the excitement around holidays to sell custom products online. Focus on popular design trends and different niches.

Most Profitable Print-on-Demand Products

Spreadshop has 300+ print-on-demand products for you to customize and sell. These range from classics like sweatshirts and tees, to seasonal staples like stockings and ornaments.

You can curate your assortment to fit the season or incorporate new, trending styles when you see fit.

  • Christmas sweaters and hoodies: It’s cozy season. Shoppers are looking for sweaters, sweatshirts, and hoodies, especially oversized ones. Christmas sweaters are a particularly popular trend this time of year.

  • Custom mugs and tote bags: These items are go-to print-on-demand products year-round, but they hit differently during the holiday season. Who can say no to a warm cup of hot cocoa in a classic coffee mug? Plus, a seasonal tote bag is something buyers can use year after year.

  • Beanies and oversized tees: Great for lounging or throwing on to run quick errands. We highly-recommend adding the fine rib knit beanie to your assortment and oversized t-shirts.

Earn extra cash this Christmas with these design ideas.

  • Classic Christmas: The classics never go out of style. Cozy typography with graphics of hot cocoa and burning fires, dainty snowflake patterns, vintage inspired Santa designs.

  • Holiday Puns: Funny clothes are great any time of year. But the holiday season offers many chances, even if they are cheesy. “Sleigh All Day”, “Resting Grinch Face”, and “Meowy Christmas” are just a few of our favorites.

  • Pop Culture References: Put a Christmas-spin on a pop culture moment you can’t get enough of. Take Taylor Swift, for example. Make products for Swifties with holiday themes based on songs from her latest album. Examples include “Life of a Snow Girl” and “My Christmas Wi$h Li$t.”

How to Start Selling Before Christmas

A lot of people have the misconception that it takes days, even weeks, to get your print-on-demand shop up and running. You can literally start selling today. And your first customer can have their order under the tree by next week.

1. Open Your Free Shop

Like we mentioned before, it’s completely free to open your own Spreadshop. No fees when you launch your shop or even when you start selling. We make our money by taking the base price of each product (more on that in the next section).

Once you open your Spreadshop, you can instantly start customizing your layout and designing your products. You don’t have to wait for inventory to arrive or figure out shipping logistics - that’s completely in our hands.

2. Upload Holiday Designs

Our design tool was built with beginners in mind. We accept multiple file formats, preferably PNG or JPG.

We have preferred tools to make designs - but Canva is our go-to. They have thousands of templates you can plug and play with to create completely unique Christmas designs that sell.

Upload photos, log graphics and brand colors for easy access and re-use templates for different seasons.

PRO TIP: Size your designs with a resolution of 4000 by 4000 pixels for optimal print quality.

Once you have your designs uploaded, it’s easy to customize multiple print-on-demand products at once. Decide on placement and pick the colors you want to offer for each product, like the Santa sweater example above.

3. Promote and Earn

Now comes the fun part - promoting and earning from your holiday products! This is the part that’s completely in your hands. We have resources of course, like monthly promos and social templates to share online.

Make your shop link accessible to all that might find it relevant. Add it to social bios and captions. Order samples and promote your designs firsthand - be your own marketing team!

When you sell a product, you make money. But what does that look like?

How Much Can You Earn?

You might be thinking: What’s the catch? How can I run a free shop, not have to deal with shipping and earn from every sale.

Basically, we earn when you earn. We only turn a profit when you sell a product.

You see, each product you sell has a base price (the cost of the product before retail). That’s what we take home, along with a small printing fee. Anything you set beyond that goes directly in your product.

Your Base Price: Prefixed price of a product before you sell it (what we make).

Your Margin: Anything you set beyond that price (what you earn).

Your Retail: Base price + margin (what your customer pays).

For example, if a hoodie costs $22 and you sell it for $40, you will earn $18. Plus small printing fees.

The base price is incredibly important in determining the final retail price of your product.

You want to make products affordable, but you still want to make a profit.Keep this in mind when pricing expensive items, such as hoodies and sweatshirts.

Also consider it for cheaper items, like stickers and magnets.

Holiday Marketing Tips for New Sellers

To sell fast and make extra cash this holiday shopping season, you need to market your shop.

Quick Marketing Wins:

  • Post holiday photos/mockups: Order samples of your products at base price and take photos in seasonal settings.

  • Run a countdown: Run a countdown on Instagram and TikTok. Let people know when your products are LIVE to shop or when you’re running a special sale.

  • Promote bundles: Encourage shoppers to purchase multiple products from your shop. Promote fleece blankets with oversized sweatshirts, upsell stickers in addition to t-shirts.

  • Tag Us: Spreadshop is active on all major social platforms. When you post your holiday products, tag @spreadshop on social media so we can feature your shop.
