Merch on a Budget

merch on a budget

Looking for merch on a budget? Spreadshop provides you and your fans with high-quality merch. The best part: YOU set the price.

We have over 100 items available for all your print on-demand needs. There are base price levels for each product, but anything beyond that goes into your hands. The prices you set help distinguish your shop from other merch sellers.

Our wide variety of products gives you flexibility with your pricing. Your fans will be able to buy merch on a budget and still support you. Check out some of our favorite price efficient products below!

Men’s T-Shirt

Men’s T-Shirt

Our men’s t-shirt has a base price of $13.99. A best seller for shops, the relaxed makes it a reliable classic. High-quality t-shirts typically range from $25 to $35.

The pricing of a standard item like this determines the pricing for the rest of your items in your shop. Think about your audience and their demographics. What are they willing to pay for a t-shirt?

Newness of a design is also a factor. If you want to retire an old merch design, consider adjusting the price. This is a great push to get people to buy your merch.

Women’s T-Shirt

Women’s T-Shirt

For a more fitted option the women’s version of our standard tee is another favorite. It’s also available in a wide array of colors fit for every season. The same base price as the men’s tee, this product gives you flexibility in your merch shop.

If you want to make more from your margins, you can slightly adjust the price of these kinds of items in the summer when they’re in demand.

Unisex Fleece Hoodie

Unisex Fleece Hoodie

Hoodies have a higher base merch – $27.49 – but are a popular merch item. We use premium brands like American Apparel, guaranteeing brand recognition for customers.

If you buy a hoodie at a concert or event they can be upwards of $70 or $80. At Spreadshop, we recommend pricing your hoodies in the $35 range. This way, customers can afford your product and you can still make a profit.

Baby Bodysuit

Baby Bodysuit

Our eco-friendly bodysuit is an adorable and unique merch item. Available in a variety of pastel and neutral shades, this bodysuit is incredibly efficient.  The base price for the bodysuit is $13.49. Depending on who your audience is, you might considering raising the price.

If you’re target demographic is moms or children, this is a must have item that will be in-demand. The quality of your designs is also a factor. Made of organic cotton, this item also ties into our sustainability mission.

Coffee Mug

Coffee Mug

Our coffee mug is a popular budget friendly merch item with many uses. Stylish and durable, these mugs heighten all your merch designs.

With a base price of $10.99, we recommend keeping this item relatively though. Since its a nice everyday item, people might be more inclined to buy it (especially if it has a cheaper price tag).

We hope this was helpful when you’re pricing items in your shop. Thanks to Spreadshop, you and your fans come out as winners.

Why Your Merch Shop is Failing

Why Your Merch Shop is Failing

There can be many reasons why your merch shop is failing. But don’t worry, we’ve got some simple fixes to help get you back on track!

You might not be doing some of these things intentionally. For your merch shop to succeed, you need to be investing time and resources into it. Just because your shop is live doesn’t mean people are going to find it automatically. You need to keep people in the know and promote your merch effectively.

Your Spreadshop is whatever you want it to be, and it’s success is dependent on what you put into it!

Social Silence

Social Silence

You don’t need to have thousands of followers on Instagram to generate merch sales. Having a tight knit, even niche audience is enough. It shows you have a community that’s invested in you; numbers aren’t everything. It’s important to get the word out about your shop in these spaces so your merch isn’t failing.

If you don’t have social accounts dedicated to your Spreadshop, find ways to integrate your merch into your typical content. Post photos of yourself in your merch. The Instagram algorithm is always changing, but it’s been rumored in the past that content that features faces and real people performs better. It also feels natural and relatable.

You shouldn’t bombard your followers with information, find different ways to talk about it via posts and text. Launching new content channels might be a good idea if you want to find different audiences. Youtube and podcast platforms are solid options.

Ignoring Your Customers

Ignoring Your Customers

Just because you can do something all on your own doesn’t necessarily mean you should. The vibe of your Spreadshop is completely up to you; that’s what makes it so much fun. But asking your customers for input is going to expand your creative horizons and boost merch sales.

Maybe there’s a reason why the designs in your merch shop are failing. You might really like them, but if they’re not resonating with your followers then that’s a disconnect you need to address. Run a poll on your socials asking people to vote on their favorite design. Or do one better, ask them to design your merch. Run a contest where the winner’s design is picked and they get then new merch FREE as a prize.

This is going to build more trust with you and your audience and build a community. That’s something you can’t buy.

Shop Layout is Unfinished

Shop Layout is Unfinished

Launching your Spreadshop is an exciting process. When you’re wrapped up in excitement, it can be easy to forget to finetune the layout of your shop. These might seem like basic features, but it’s important to utilize everything the platform has to offer.

The look of your homepage is a big indicator as to how many people will browse through your shop, let alone buy products. Your header should be an image or graphic that captures the essence of your merch. Different themes allow for different levels of customization. Our “classic theme” is a simple look that’s easy to alter for beginners and pros alike.

Other little features like an “About Me” button and linking to your socials are important. This gives customers the bigger picture of how you are and why you launched your merch. It also doesn’t hurt to do tweaks to your shop every now and then. Push new merch to your homepage and make sure seasonal products are front and center.

Forgetting Promos

Forgetting Promos

Did you know Spreadshop runs promos every month? Instead of running your own sales and working out the logistics, these promos are available to share directly to your followers!

FREE shipping and discount codes are just some of the promos we have available. They are a great incentive to get people to buy your merch as long as you give people enough notice. Mention the promos at the end of your captions or create bold text posts.

You can also coincide new merch drops with promos to generate more hype around your merch. Check out our current promotions HERE! If your merch sales and shop aren’t where you want them to be, we hope these tips can help take your merch to the next level.

Amari Carter Creates Change With NIL

Amari Carter Creates Change With NIL

Amari Carter – safety for the Miami Hurricanes – is creating change thanks to newfound NIL opportunities. Amari is using merch to benefit his nonprofit, the Survive Foundation, which provides food and resources to underserved, homeless communities.

College athletes can now monetize from their name and build a brand through NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals. While this money is nice pocket change for a hardworking student, many of these athletes, like Amari, are donating it in service of charitable organizations.

Amari’s Spreadshop is bringing awareness to the issue of hunger, something that means a lot to him. He’s making big moves on and off the field. And both parts of his life are inspirational.

Merch For Good

Merch For Good

Amari was moved to start the Survive Foundation while enjoying a lunch date with his girlfriend, Emilee. They realized how fortunate they were to afford food and be provided service at a restaurant. So many people are struggling out there wondering when/how they’ll get their next meal.

Amari wanted to do something about it. After lunch, they went to Aldi’s to prepare baggies to hand out to people in Downtown Orlando. This kind  gesture was the launching pad for The Survive Foundation.

But the foundation is more than providing food to these communities; it’s about creating a real human connection.

“The biggest thing is seeing them and acknowledging them,” Carter told the Palm Beach Post. “I feel many times we’ll see someone on the side of the road or someone who could use help, sometimes people act like they don’t see them.”

Amari is an inspiration on and off the field. Help support his fight against hunger when you buy his merch. All proceeds go directly to the Survive Foundation!

Use Targeted Ads to Engage Your Niche

Use Targeted Ads to Engage Your Niche

Targeted ads are an effective way to engage your niche and market your merch. Who needs a complex marketing strategy when you can go directly to the source?

Whatever niche your merch falls into – crafting, sports, an obscure music genre – there’s likely an audience for it. You just have to find them. Keywords, demographics and eye-catching images can all help you engage with a niche group.

Targeted ads bring all these elements together and are easy to run across socials like Instagram and Facebook. Knowing your merch is essential. Read on to see how targeted ads can take your Spreadshop merch to the next level!

Go to the Source

Go to the Source

Even with clear direction, traditional marketing campaigns aren’t as effective as targeted ads. Target ads allow you to specify the people you’re targeting in greater detail. Reach those in your area or on a national level with key words that are relevant to your niche.

Find the most commonly used hashtags related to your niche and use that for inspiration. See what posts are trending in those categories and what the content looks like. What makes the biggest impact for users on a particular platform?

Going straight to the source lets you bypass people who wouldn’t be interested in your merch anyway. You can get more with your money and out of your marketing strategy this way. You don’t have to worry about finding an audience and attracting followers. Make it easy: go to them.

Be Personal

Be Personal

Using targeted ads to engage your niche allows you to speak in a more personal way. You don’t have to craft language that can apply to a slew of demographics. Use language that you know people in your niche will relate to.

Relay inside jokes or phrases that only those you’re targeting will understand. People are more inclined to interact with posts that feel authentic. Marketing jargon won’t get you very far. Treat these ads like you’re talking to a friend or family member. Make your message simple/ New merch designs, exclusive offers and sales are just a few ways to hook people on socials.

You’re already a brand, whether you know it or not. Spreadshop just helps you take it to the next level.

Tailor Your Content

Tailor Your Content

The kind of content you use for your targeted ads is key. You want posts that make users stop mid-scroll. Slide-through posts are a great way to generate more engagement. Show different products from your shop so people can see the range of merch you have. T-shirts aren’t the only merch item out there! We’ve got plenty of products to choose from.

Choose photos that capture your merch. Avoid using stock images and take the time to create your own promotional materials. Putting in that extra effort is going to make your merch look so much more appealing. These are photos that you can use in ads now and continue to use for different types of promotions you have in the future.

Plenty of promos coming up!

Create a Connection

Create a Connection

The best thing that can come from targeted ads: a meaningful connection. It’s nice if people buy some of your merch or follow your account based on a post. But it means even more when those people remain dedicated to your content and merch.

Targeted ads are a great entry point for people new to your merch. You can approach them in a way that feels natural because they’re the ones that are going to relate. The message of your ads doesn’t need to be about specific merch items, either. It can be an introduction to your Spreadshop as a whole.

Connections are made when you appear authentic and dedicated to what you’re doing. People can tell when someone’s not genuine. You just have to be you. That’s what targeted ads can help you do.
